DHA is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid [C22:6(n-3), that can be synthesized from alpha-linolenic acid and is naturally present in human mother’s milk, fish oil and algal oil.
DHA is a major fatty acid in brain phospholipids and the retina and skin.
Adults can easily convert dietary fatty acids to ARA and DHA but that ability is incompletely developed in infants, leaving breast milk as their only natural source of ARA and DHA. To make these important nutrients available to infants who are not breast fed, they are commonly added to infant formula products.
We can offer DHA in both oil and powder form from Fish and Algal sources.
